How to play Bowling

Try Bowling at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Complete ten frames and maximise the score. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play ten frames using a two-dimensional bowling lane. Strikes, spares and bonus rolls count towards the total.

Build a steady rhythm

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Complete ten frames and maximise the score. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

1. Set lane position and power.
2. Roll into the rack.
3. A strike ends a normal frame; otherwise roll again.
4. The tenth can earn bonus rolls.

Controls

Lane-position/power sliders and Roll ball. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

A strike followed by 4 and 5 scores 19; a spare followed by 7 scores 17. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

Bonus-dependent frames may not yet have a confirmed total. Compare the situation with the worked example. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
