How to play Tangram

Start Tangram by looking at the playing area and its controls. Fill the square target with seven pieces, without gaps or overlap. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Check the rule that explains your first action. Look at what changes after your first action.

Arrange seven pieces into the square target. Rotate or flip a piece to fit; this game currently offers one target shape.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Fill the square target with seven pieces, without gaps or overlap. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. Drag a selected piece.
  2. Rotate in 45-degree steps or flip it.
  3. Use snapping for precise alignment.
  4. Check the layout or use one-piece assistance.

Controls

Mouse/touch dragging and rotate/flip buttons. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

The parallelogram may need flipping rather than rotation. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

Overlaps do not count as filling the target. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
